The Standard Model

The Standard Model

The standard affiliate marketing model requires very little labour from the budding web entrepeneur but unless efforts are made to implement this model as effectively and efficiently as possible through conducting appropriate market research and developing strategic advertising campaigns then there is a high risk that this model will fail to produce the same potential for revenue as the other models described on my affiliate marketing blog.

This is because the standard model does not incorporate a custom system/funnel for the purpose of obtaining leverage over potential customers (a method which might be loosely defined as pool marketing.) As such if you are hoping to successfully engage the standard model it is vital that you find products for your website which you personally believe in. These products should have great product support and glowing reviews from satisfied customers.

It is important that you do not select any products for your website which are already sold by thousands of competing affiliate marketing websites, as you will have a considerably hard time breaking into their slice of the market of the market using the standard model since it does not feature a customizable component to harness the most potential from your website traffic.

Instead you will need to identify a niche in the market and find quality products to fill in this niche. This is the key to successfully generating the most revenue using the standard model.

Implementing the standard model

The standard affiliate model is implemented using a basic website. Your affiliate link(s) and/or click through images should be placed on the front page of the website so that visitors are exposed to your product(s) immediately upon viewing your website. Additional content pages should include as much information about your product(s) as possible and may include product reviews and manufacturer information. It is important to carefully select a number of keywords which are relevant to your product(s) and try to include them on every page of your website where possible. You should link a couple of these keywords through to other pages on your website which are relevant to the keyword, then Google's web trawler will be able to index your site more efficiently and will also begin to associate these keywords with your website.
